Grantmaking

About Us

We are happy to accept grant proposals from eligible entities during our open application window.

Your time is valuable so please review our eligibility guidelines and restrictions before working on a grant application. If you have any questions, please reach out to our Executive Director, Hudson Fuller at executivedirector@strowdroses.org.

Expand the sections below for more information.
  • Applicants must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit in good standing or be an organization that is fiscally sponsored by a 501(c)(3) or be a local government entity.
  • Applicants must have a current North Carolina charitable solicitation license or current statutory exemption.
  • Proposals are only accepted from organizations serving the residents of Chapel Hill and the local surrounding community. Nonprofits may be located outside of Chapel Hill, as long as the services or programs benefit residents of Chapel Hill and the immediate surrounding areas.
  • Consistent with Strowd Roses’ policies and values, all grant recipients must support an environment that is free from discrimination in their hiring and service provision on the basis of gender, race, race, ethnicity, creed, color, religion, political affiliation, national origin, socio-economic status, gender, gender identity, gender expression, age, familial status, sexual orientation, veteran status, or physical or mental disability.
  • If the organization will be applying through a 501(c)(3) fiscal sponsor, the 501(c)(3) sponsor must be a local nonprofit or government agency, and the sponsor may not charge any fees for serving as a fiscal sponsor. (Fiscal sponsors will need to fill out additional paperwork)
  • No funding will be awarded to individuals or endowments.
  • No funding will be granted for programs or summer camps held in Chapel Hill-Carrboro City Schools or for CHCCS students. (Strowd Roses provides an annual block grant award to the Public School Foundation, which supports summer camp programming and teacher/staff grant awards).
