Last July, heavy flooding from Tropical Storm Chantal destroyed more than half of the rose bushes we had planted just two months earlier. This April, we will plant 150 new bushes to help renew the garden. They will arrive as bare-root plants, packed in water and looking like little more than twigs. Yet with names like Veranda Mango, Sunshine Daydream, and Apricot Candy, they promise to fill the garden with vibrant color by summer and into early fall.
