Sunbelt® Soul Sister™
The Sunbelt® Soul Sister™ is a luminous and resilient shrub rose from the Kordes® Sunbelt® collection, specifically bred to thrive in intense heat without losing its “soulful” color. It features clusters of fully double, old-fashioned blooms that emerge as deep orange buds before opening into a rich blend of coppery-bronze, amber, and apricot. Beyond its radiant warmth, this rose is prized for its sweet, old-fashioned damask fragrance and exceptional disease resistance. With healthy, leathery dark green foliage and a prolific reblooming habit, it remains a “sister in sunshine” that performs beautifully from late spring through the first frost.
Grow Guide
- Light: Plant in Full Sun (at least 6+ hours of direct sunlight) to fuel its high bloom production and maintain its legendary heat tolerance.
- Hardiness: Highly adaptable and cold-hardy, suitable for Zones 5–10, making it a sturdy choice for both northern winters and southern summers.
- Spacing & Size: This rose maintains a compact and rounded habit, reaching about 3–4′ tall and 2–3′ wide. Space plants 4–6′ apart to allow for its full spread and ensure proper airflow.
- Watering: Water regularly until fully established. Once mature, it prefers consistent, deep watering at the base to keep the soil moist but well-drained. It is particularly valued for its ability to maintain vigor in hot, dry conditions.
- Best Use: Its bushy, manageable size makes it an ideal choice for borders, hedges, and mass plantings. It is also excellent for cutting and floral arrangements, bringing its unique amber-apricot tones indoors.
