Strowd Roses Celebrates 25 Years

This year marks the 25th anniversary of our organization—a milestone that reflects a sustained commitment to both cultivating beauty and investing in our community.

At its origin was Gene Strowd’s vision of creating a public rose garden—a place where people could gather, reflect, and enjoy the beauty of nature. For 25 years, the garden has fulfilled that vision, providing a welcoming space where visitors can experience the changing seasons and the enduring appeal of roses.

Our community grant program, launched through Mrs. Strowd’s generosity and sustained by other donors, is also central to our mission. Over the past 25 years, Strowd Roses has awarded more than $7.5 million in local grants to support initiatives that enhance the well-being of residents of Chapel Hill and Carrboro.

To commemorate our first 25 years, we will host a series of events in the garden beginning later this summer. We invite the public to join us in celebrating 25 years of growth and to be part of what comes next.
