Great Coneflower
Rudbeckia maxima, or Great Coneflower, is a North American native perennial with architectural foliage and tall summer flower stalks. This plant has large daisy-like flowers with bright yellow petals centered around a prominent brown cone. Highly tolerant of heat and moisture variations, it serves as a commanding centerpiece in native gardens, attracting bees and butterflies during bloom and providing winter seeds for goldfinches.

- Hardiness: USDA Zones 4–9
- Size: 5–7 feet tall (foliage mound reaches 1–2 feet) with a spread of 2–3 feet
- Watering: Medium to wet; highly adaptable, tolerating both moist, poorly drained soils and periods of drought once established.
- Best Use: Outstanding as an architectural accent plant in the back of perennial borders, native plant gardens, rain gardens, naturalized prairies, and bird/pollinator sanctuaries.
