Popcorn Drift®

Scientific name: Rosa

Rose type: Groundcover

Bloom color: Yellow to White

The Popcorn Drift® is a charming and dynamic addition to the Drift® series, named for its delightful blooms that transition from a buttery yellow to a crisp, creamy white. This compact groundcover rose produces abundant clusters of small, cupped flowers that reveal golden stamens, creating a “popcorn” effect across the plant. Like its counterparts in the Drift® family, it is a cross between full-size groundcover roses and miniatures, inheriting a tough, disease-resistant nature and a continuous, prolific blooming habit that lasts from mid-spring until the first hard frost.

Grow Guide

  • Light: Plant in Full Sun (at least 6+ hours of direct sunlight) to maintain its compact shape and ensure the best flower production and color transition.
  • Hardiness: Highly adaptable and exceptionally winter-hardy, suitable for Zones 4–11, making it a reliable performer in nearly any climate.
  • Spacing & Size: This low-growing, spreading shrub typically reaches 1.5–2′ tall and 2–3′ wide. Space plants 30″ apart (center-on-center) to allow for its full spread and create a seamless carpet of color.
  • Watering: Water regularly until fully established. Once mature, it has average water needs but prefers deep watering at the base during dry periods. It is notably drought tolerant once the root system is established.
  • Best Use: Its manageable size and spreading habit make it perfect for edging walkways, small garden beds, and mass plantings. It is also an excellent “filler” for containers and patio pots, adding a soft, warm glow to smaller spaces.
