The Fairy
The Fairy is a timeless and versatile Polyantha rose that has remained a garden staple since its introduction in 1932. This “Earth-Kind®” rose is renowned for its sheer “flower power,” producing an absolute profusion of small, double, shell-pink blooms in large clusters. Its delicate flowers are perfectly complemented by small, fern-like, glossy green foliage that boasts excellent disease resistance. With a unique arching and cascading habit, The Fairy provides a soft, romantic look and is famously tough, thriving in a variety of conditions where other roses might struggle.
Grow Guide
- Light: Plant in Full Sun (6+ hours of direct sunlight) for the most profuse blooming, though it is remarkably Partial Shade tolerant, able to perform well with as little as 4 hours of sun.
- Hardiness: Exceptionally hardy and resilient, suitable for Zones 4–11, making it one of the most adaptable roses for varying climates.
- Spacing & Size: This rose features a low-growing, spreading habit, typically reaching 2–3′ tall and 4–5′ wide. Space plants 3–4′ apart to create a dense groundcover or a low, flowering hedge.
- Watering: Water regularly until fully established. Once mature, it is notably drought tolerant, but benefits from deep watering at the base during extended dry spells to keep the foliage lush.
- Best Use: Its cascading nature makes it a premier choice for spilling over stone walls, edging walkways, or filling large containers. It is also highly effective for mass plantings and erosion control on slopes.
