Traviata®
The Traviata® is a stunning Meilland® Romantica® variety that combines the old-fashioned charm of a classic rose with the disease resistance of a modern hybrid. It produces large, vibrant, garnet-red blooms with an impressive petal count of up to 100, giving each flower a dense, quartered appearance. This rose is particularly noted for its vigor and healthy, dark green, leathery foliage. Unlike many traditional red hybrid teas, Traviata® is exceptionally resistant to black spot and mildew, making it a reliable performer that brings a touch of dramatic, romantic flair to the garden from late spring until the first frost.
Grow Guide
- Light: Plant in Full Sun (at least 6+ hours of direct sunlight) to ensure the best bloom production and maintain its strong, upright habit.
- Hardiness: Highly resilient and suitable for Zones 5–9, handling both winter cold and summer heat with ease.
- Spacing & Size: This rose has a tall, upright habit, typically reaching 4–5′ tall and 2–3′ wide. Space accordingly (3′ apart) to allow for its vertical growth and ensure proper air circulation.
- Watering: Water regularly until fully established. Once mature, it prefers deep, consistent watering at the base—about an inch per week—to keep the roots hydrated while maintaining dry foliage.
- Best Use: Its long, sturdy stems and high-centered, quartered blooms make it a premier choice for cutting gardens and floral arrangements. It also serves as a magnificent focal point or back-of-border specimen in formal rose gardens.
