Sevillana
The Sevillana® (also known as La Sevillana) is a powerhouse landscape rose, famous for its fiery color and rugged toughness. It produces a non-stop “blizzard” of brilliant, vermillion-red blooms that appear in large clusters from late spring through the first frost. This French-bred workhorse features exceptionally healthy, bronze-tinted to dark green foliage and is remarkably resistant to pests and disease. Whether used as a flowering hedge or a mass planting, its ability to thrive through heat, humidity, and even occasional neglect has made it a favorite for both public parks and low-maintenance home gardens.
Grow Guide
- Light: Plant in Full Sun (at least 6+ hours of direct sunlight) to maintain its vigorous growth and fuel its heavy, continuous bloom production.
- Hardiness: Highly adaptable and winter-hardy, suitable for Zones 4–10, making it resilient across a wide range of climates.
- Spacing & Size: This variety has a bushy, upright to rounded habit, reaching 3–5′ tall and 2–4′ wide. Space accordingly (3–4′ apart) to create a seamless flowering screen or mass of color.
- Watering: Water regularly until established. Once mature, it is quite hardy but prefers deep, thorough watering at the base—about an inch per week—during dry spells.
- Best Use: Its vigorous and self-cleaning nature makes it ideal for hedges, perimeter plantings, and massing. It is also a fantastic choice for erosion control on slopes or as a bold, colorfast specimen in large garden beds.
