Julia Child™
The Julia Child™ is an extraordinary Floribunda rose personally chosen by the legendary chef for its “yummy” butter-gold color and delightful licorice-clove fragrance. This 2006 All-America Rose Selection (AARS) winner produces abundant clusters of medium, old-fashioned, cup-shaped blooms with over 35 petals each. Renowned for its exceptional disease resistance and self-cleaning habit, it features super-glossy, mid-green foliage that serves as the perfect backdrop for its luminous yellow flowers. A true garden favorite, it remains compact and bushy, flowering continuously and profusely from late spring until the first frost.
Grow Guide
- Light: Plant in Full Sun (at least 6+ hours of direct sunlight) to optimize growth and ensure the most vibrant, buttery-yellow bloom production.
- Hardiness: Extremely hardy and versatile, suitable for Zones 5–10, with some success reported even in Zone 4 with proper winter protection.
- Spacing & Size: This rose maintains a very rounded, bushy habit, typically reaching 2–3′ tall and 2–3′ wide. Space plants 3′ apart to allow for its full spread and maintain excellent air circulation.
- Watering: Prefers regular watering to keep the soil consistently moist but well-drained. To prevent fungal issues, always water at the base of the plant to keep the glossy foliage dry.
- Best Use: Its compact, well-rounded shape makes it an ideal choice for beds, borders, and walkways. It is also perfectly suited for patio containers and is excellent for cutting and floral arrangements.
